SJG Personnel launched in 2016 to support the growth of SJG Group, our clients and suppliers in what we thought was the never ending battle to attract, hire and retain the right people to enable our business to grow.

During site visits, design meetings and trade events it soon became apparent that we were not alone in our struggle to attract, hire and retain talented people. Everyone uses a mixture of methods including the usual Recruitment Agencies, Job boards, our own websites, Newspapers, and Trade Magazines all with limited success.

We found that most “successful” appointments came via recruitments agencies, however candidates who came to the business via this method often had the shortest length of service and usually came with the highest cost in terms of fees paid and respective salaries.

This is obviously unsustainable and extremely counter productive.

This cannot continue, who is to blame?

It's easy and all to common to point the finger at the Recruitment agent and/or the candidate not performing as per their CV / interview would have you expect, however neither party is really to blame, the fault lies with us, the hiring company.

Our Aims and Experiences

With over 50 years combined construction site, design office and business management experience we have the knowledge to be able to assess hiring companies and candidates both technically and culturally to ensure the right fit.

As per our strapline, we work in partnership with your business, an extension to your HR function, a supporting colleague to your hiring manager, and even a soundboard for your director.
